Elson Courtyard
Phillips Andover Academy
Elson Courtyard is an “L-shaped” campus space that is bordered by the Addison Art Gallery, Elson Arts Building, and George Washington Hall on campus. In its previous form, the space referenced the 1960’s arts building and was decidedly minimalist.
Phillips Andover Academy engaged KZLA to re-think the courtyard and develop it into a dynamic outdoor space that was actively used and visually interesting when viewed from the adjacent buildings. KZLA explored how to use the space for exterior art installations, performance arts, and outdoor classes.
