In order to re-brand a commercial office building that was available for lease, the owner renovated the building interior and asked KZLA to develop a design for the building entry. KZLA saw this as an opportunity to create an exterior space that would foster social interaction among the building users, remove excess pavement, introduce more green space, and to be viewed from the office windows above. Linear bands of planting and paving slide past each other in this bold graphic design. Four seasons of interest were considered with the planting design.
The project was a fast-tracked with design taking place in July and August and construction in October and November. Public and Town of Wellesley review of the project was included in the Design Review Board process.
