Arthur Shurcliff an early 20th century landscape architect known for his work at Colonial Williamsburg designed one of Bostons most European urban spaces in the North End neighborhood. The Prado is an urban mall that connects the Old North Church and Hanover Street. Since the park has had only one renovation since it was implemented, it was due for a more significant rehabilitation since the fountain system was failing, electrical wiring needed replacement, drainage concerns were present, and accessibility codes were not met.

KZLA and sub-consultant Building Conservation Associates reviewed the historic materials and design in order to develop a short-term and long-term recommendation plan. These plans allowed Boston Parks to input capital budget requests for improvements. The project workflow had to streamline the process and summarize recommendations within two months of notice to proceed to meet the budget cycle.
